University Of Nottingham Teaching Hub

The latest addition to University Park will be the Teaching and Learning Hub. Positioned adjacent to Hallward Library and in the centre of campus, this will provide a much needed boost to the University's teaching requirements and will include a number of differing size teaching rooms, 300 seat lecture theatre, performing arts space, social learning hub and staff offices.

SCI are working with Kier Construction to undertake the works.

Miller Homes - Worcester

Miller Homes is a respected national homebuilder with an established reputation for building high quality family homes and excellent customer service.

SCI were tasked with transforming two empty floors of a building in Worcester into a vibrant new regional office.

The 8 week project saw us collaborate with the client and come up with a scheme that fitted both their budget and timescale

With the use of full height acoustic toughened glass SCI have created an environment that embraces the abundance of natural light that floods into the building.

As part of the build power, data, fire/intruder alarms and access control were also installed.

This was the second project that SCI have completed for Miller Homes after completing works in Derby in 2016.

A third project is already underway for the relocation and refurbishment of their southern regional office in Basingstoke.

Electrical works completed @ National College for High Speed Rail

Electrical works have been completed at our innovative project at the National College for High Speed Rail in Doncaster and Birmingham.

This has certainly be a challenging project with very tight timescales and with the One Show having visited on Tuesday and BBC Breakfast filming on Monday, this is definitely a project that has caught people's attention.

SCI Full Steam Ahead at Nation College for High Speed Rail

Located in Birmingham and Doncaster, the newly completed state of the art buildings will house the next generation of people with the expertise to work on the HS2 and other future projects.

At each site, there will be a de-commissioned 'power car' donated by Alstom. These cars will be used for augmented reality training. SCI has been tasked with the fit out of each car.

The concept was to create a museum-like appearance in each car. Works to include:

  • Thorough internal clean.
  • The decoration of internal metal work.
  • Electrical works including power, data, and lighting.
  • Over-boarding of the existing floor which will then be carpeted. Within this, will be integrated perspex viewing panels, so that old cabling can be viewed.
  • Creation of viewing cabinets to showcase the old switchgear and circuitry.
  • Refurbishment of the drivers cab.

Working to tight timescales, we have completion dates of 9th of October for Doncaster and 11th of October for Birmingham ready for the official opening.

It is vital that these dates are met, as among the guests will be the secretaries of state for education and transport.

It’s not every day that we get the chance to deliver a first class refurbishment to a Eurostar power car.
